Welcome to School of Rock New Canaan!

This form will help you to better understand the policies and procedures of our schools. Please ensure that all School of Rock waivers are signed via Pike or in person at the School of Rock by the start of your student’s first lesson or rehearsal. Instruction cannot be provided at the School of Rock without all necessary paperwork.

Season Info

Our program runs year-round, delineated into three seasons, each lasting approximately four months. Your child’s rehearsal night may change with the start of a new season. It is your responsibility to adjust your child’s lesson time to accommodate their new schedule. The School of Rock will make students aware of lesson time or permanent instructor changes as necessary.

Spring Season – January/ February to May/June

Summer Season – May/June to August/September

Fall/Winter Season – August/September to January/February

Rehearsal is run on a weekly basis. In the event that there is a week of no rehearsal between seasons, students will have the opportunity to utilize the rehearsal space with the rest of their group on their appointed rehearsal night. Tuition will not be affected in this circumstance.

Tuition

All payments are processed by preauthorized credit/debit cards or auto draft from a checking account (Electronic Funds Transfer) the first day of each month. We do not accept personal checks or cash for tuition. Other than your first month (depending on start date) tuition is never prorated for any reason including missed lessons. Tuition does not include instruments, lesson materials, books, music, MP3s, show fees or tickets to shows which are handled separately. Tuition does not include special events, which are charged separately. You will be charged the following for the appropriate program:

Rock Performance Tuition = $375

  • Includes 45-minute weekly private lesson and a 3-hour weekly show rehearsal**
  • Registering the first month of the season – student is cast on 3 songs minimum.
  • Registering the second month of the season – student is cast on 2 songs minimum.
  • Registering the third month of the season – student is cast on 1 song minimum.

** Show rehearsals will be organized by two 1.5 hr. waves

Students can be added or taken off certain songs at the Music Director’s discretion. Students that exhibit a mastery of their current responsibilities on the show, a great attitude, respect of School of Rock staff and students, and a willingness to learn will be considered for additional parts. Students that are regularly unprepared or not present at their lessons and rehearsals may be removed from their assigned parts.

Two Instrument Rock Performance Tuition = $650. Students taking two private lessons per week will be eligible to be cast on a minimum of 5 songs on their show. More may be granted based on the guidelines above.

Rock 101 Tuition = $350

Holiday Info

The school will be closed the following holidays: New Years Eve & New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, Easter, Labor Day, Independence Day and Memorial Day. If your lesson or rehearsal falls on a holiday, no make-up lesson is guaranteed.

Student Absences

The School of Rock has no make-up policy. However, in the event that your student cannot make their weekly private lesson, we ask that you give 24 hours notice. Cancel your lesson via your account at Pike13 https://newcanaan-sor.pike13.com . The system will automatically issue you a make up if the cancellation is done within our 24hr policy. Absences can arise due to appointments, vacation, scheduling conflicts, and a number of other circumstances, and we ask that you keep us informed. School of Rock will not reschedule lessons due to shows, House Band or All Star conflicts. Make-up lessons, once scheduled, cannot be rescheduled. Lessons must be made up within 30 days of the time of cancelation with a current membership. If you cancel your normal lesson time and reschedule for a different day and/or time you cannot change this make up lesson time.

We will always try to schedule a make up lesson if the schedule allows, but there is not always availability, especially as we head into the school year. While we try our best to schedule make up lessons with a student's primary instructor, we cannot guarantee this and encourage students to work with other teachers.

Poor attendance greatly affects the quality of the show. If a student’s attendance is affecting the quality of their group performance, the Music Director has the discretion to remove them from songs or ask the student to discontinue their participation in rehearsal. If your student will be late or needs to leave early from a rehearsal, please let us know in advance so we can make an effort to schedule their songs while they are present.

Teacher Absences

Your teachers are rock stars too! From time to time our teachers need time off for vacations, illnesses, gigs, or to go on tour. When this happens, we will schedule a qualified substitute teacher. Students often gain a new perspective and knowledge from their substitute. If we are not able to cover the lesson with a sub, a make-up pass will be issued to your account for rescheduling.

Show Registration Fee and Tickets

Shows are performed during the last month of the season at our in-house venue. These shows are typically held the last week of rehearsal and the weekend, but are subject to change based on venue availability.

There is a show registration fee of $100 per student for all students enrolled in the Rock Performance Program associated with every program enrollment. Rock 101 show registration fee is $75. This fee grants you unlimited tickets to performances, show posters, and collectable commemorative dog tags, and covers casting and administrative processing costs, as well as staff for the show dates. The fee will be charged to your default payment method at the time of sign-up and is non-refundable.

Best of Season Performances

School of Rock may offer additional opportunities for Performance Program students to showcase their show material. Should a song be selected as “Best of Season” from their initial show dates, they may have the opportunity to perform at additional venues. Attendee ticket prices vary based on the venue and the event.
